BRT launches an online shipping service with 24/7 access

  • It takes just a few clicks to pay for a shipment, with no obligations or contracts
  • An opportunity for small businesses and sellers on C2C platforms
  • Goods can be dropped off at one of the 8,800 BRT-fermopoints, with no need to print a label

Introducing a new solution for even smarter shipping. BRT has launched a platform that lets
users pay for shipments online, choose the pick-up and delivery locations of goods, calculate the cost and drop off the items that they want to ship (parcels, envelopes or documents) at one of more than 8,800 BRT fermopoints or a locker. There is no need to print labels for items dropped at BRT-fermopoints, thanks to the “digital label” service that is available for all shipments made using the BRT network.

BRT’s online shipping platform offers maximum flexibility: users can pay for services at any time of day and make one-off shipments, with no obligations or contracts. There are no additional costs if payment is made for shipments online and they are dropped off at a locker or a BRT-fermopoint. However, additional charges do apply if users opt for delivery to the recipient’s home or another specific address.

The online shipping service has been designed to cater in particular to sellers on C2C platforms and small and very small businesses that are moving into e-commerce. Significant, growing figures can be found in these fields. According to Geopost’s 2023/2024 e-shopper barometer (based on approximately 24,000 interviews in 22 European countries), 72% of e-shoppers have used C2C platforms to buy, sell or do both. A third of regular e-shoppers said that they had made more purchases on C2C platforms than they used to do. As for the B2C e-commerce market, this year it will be worth €38.6 billion in Italy, marking an increase of 6% compared to last year (Source: Netcomm and Politecnico di Milano School of Management eCommerce B2C Observatory). 33.7 million Italians now shop online, which is 10 million more than 5 years ago (Source: Netcomm - NetRetail).

The new platform for online shipping payments is all part of a process of change at BRT, which is increasingly establishing itself as a provider of innovative services for e-commerce that can offer the best response to the needs of the digital market. The aim is to become a top player in the entire online buying and selling process, supporting businesses – and especially SMEs – during digital transition and internationalization.
