The development of the fleet of electric vehicles is in step with the vision of Geopost and DPD Croatia to make parcel delivery environmentally friendly, and all that to achieve the science-based target approved by the Science Based Target initiative by 2040.
DPD Croatia shows its contribution to achieving the Net Zero target by upgrading its fleet with 20 new electric vehicles. New Opel Vivaro-e Cargo and Ford E-Transit e-vehicles are already delivering parcels in Zagreb, Split, and Zadar as part of city tours.
The Opel Vivaro Electric is equipped with a 50-kWh battery: 27,7 – 24,1 kWh/100 km. Mentioned battery provides a range of up to 230 kilometers (WLTP), and the charging time does not take long since the fast charger charges the 50-kWh battery to 80 percent capacity in half an hour. The Ford E-Transit Van L3H2 has the following performance: a 400-volt battery with 68 kWh of usable power, which provides a range of up to 256 km on a single charge. When using a fast DC charger, the vehicle is charged in 1 hour, and in case of AC charger, it takes approximately 3 hours.
In addition to the introduction of new electric delivery vehicles, DPD announces its new collaboration with Ford Hrvatska. As part of this partnership, DPD has started renewing the vehicle fleet for employees with the plug-in hybrid model Ford Kuga, as well as EcoBoost mild hybrid models of Ford Focus and Ford Puma. This new vehicle fleet will bring DPD further to achieving its targets of CO₂ emission reduction, while ensuring sustainable and reliable driving to its employees.
The initiative represents the commitment of DPD to protecting the environment and reducing carbon footprint. Electric vehicles not only contribute to cleaner air and reduced emission of harmful gases, but also encourage the development of technologies that support sustainable mobility. In addition to DPD investing in environmentally friendly alternatives, this step also demonstrates unceasing commitment to innovation and modernization. Except for the growth of vehicle fleet, in cooperation with Hrvatski Telekom, there are currently 28 charging stations for electric vehicles installed at certain depots in Croatia, of which 21 AC charging stations (slow charging) and 1 DC charging station (fast charging) are in Zagreb, and 5 AC charging stations in Split. Installation of six to eight new AC charging stations is planned for other cities in Croatia by the end of 2024.

In order to achieve science-based Net Zero targets, Geopost will focus on:

Electrification of the vehicle fleet for pickup and parcel delivery by increasing the share of alternative transport solutions (including electric vans, cargo bikes and foot delivery) on 85% by 2030 (100% by 2035)

Diversification of the linehaul fleet by including alternative technologies such as biogas, biofuel, electric and hydrogen powered trucks, as well as shifting more packages to rail to increase the share of alternative solutions for line transport to 50% by 2030 (100% by 2040).

Transition to renewable energy for powering hubs, depots, and offices, increasing energy efficiency in order to use 70% of energy from renewable sources by 2030 (100% by 2035).

Electrification of the vehicle fleet of company cars and freight vehicles by increasing the share of electric vehicles on 90% by 2030 (100% by 2035).
