By switching to HVO fuel, DPD Netherlands expects to reduce the CO2 emissions of transports carried out by Vos Logistics on its behalf by around 60% compared to regular diesel. This represents significant progress, where DPD Netherlands not only compensates for emissions but also actively reduces them.
Big step towards net zero in 2040
Maurice Loef, Director Linehaul at DPD Netherlands, explains:
"Vos Logistics is the first haulier on our international linehaul that will be using HVO for us. By using HVO fuel for these transports we are seeing that each day around 10% of kilometres travelled by DPD are now driven using HVO100. This is a big step in our mission to be climate-neutral by 2040 and it helps us reduce our CO2 footprint."
Sustainability continues to be a top priority for DPD Netherlands.
"Our joint decision to use HVO100 for the kilometres driven by DPD can affect the way we award future transport contracts,"
Loef adds.
"Thanks to this transition we are significantly reducing emissions on many of our transport routes to Austria, Italy and France. Our aim is to use this more sustainable approach for other regions too in the future."
Full transparency
Vos Logistics has developed a transparent and effective reporting system to monitor and verify the use of HVO. This allows Vos Logistics to provide DPD each month with full transparency and proof of the use of HVO. The system helps Vos Logistics, together with DPD, to monitor the implementation of HVO effectively and efficiently.
