Innovation and sustainability in the new BRT branch in Stezzano

Press release 30 October 2023

  • Tripled spaces: over 7,000 square meters and a Fermopoint headquarters available to customers
  • Attention to the environment: photovoltaic system and 17 charging columns for electric vehicles
  • From 2024 new eco vehicles to ensure 100% green deliveries in the center of Bergamo

BRT continues to invest in branch renewal, to ensure greater service efficiency, thanks to innovative technologies, and environmental sustainability. Today the new branch of Stezzano, in the province of Bergamo, was opened. The branch has a total area of 7,500 square meters, including 5,800 square meters of warehouse, and it has been designed to minimize the environmental impact, in line with BRT’s objectives and Geopost's commitment to become an international benchmark for sustainable deliveries.

The location, close to the motorway exit of Dalmine, allows to reduce the kilometers traveled, optimizing movements, and helping to minimize the consumption of vehicles. The size of the plant allows a rationalization of the withdrawal and distribution activities, reducing the route distances and CO2 emissions. Stezzano is also a branch at the forefront of the path of electrification of vehicles: it is equipped with a photovoltaic system of 130 kw, 17 smart systems for charging electric vehicles (these systems are able to manage the vehicle recharge according to the availability of energy and to differentiate the charging priorities according to the state of the battery) and a "eco" fleet composed of 8 electric vehicles including 2 cargo-scooters and 18 low emission vehicles powered by natural gas. The goal for 2024 is to reach the number of 20 electric vehicles that will manage 100% of the deliveries of the city center of Bergamo without emissions.

"The Stezzano branch is the plastic representation of the BRT of the future: innovation, attention to the environment, team of qualified professionals and values that have accompanied us for a century and that have led us to become market leaders with quality services,

comments Stefania Pezzetti, CEO of BRT

We will continue to invest in upgrading our network in the territory and in new e-commerce services; we will do this by focusing on sustainability, a strategic value for the future of our business".

The new branch is also able to handle 6,000 parcels per hour (120 sorting stations simultaneously) with the acquisition of weight, volume and image of each package. An area of the branch will be dedicated to the new headquarters of Fermopoint, where customers can pick up or send their parcels.

"We are proud to have contributed to the creation of the new branch of BRT within the Stezzano Business Park that, since its origins, has been imagined as a place of encounter. Collaborating with such a precise company has allowed the company to make know-how and innovation available in a sustainable environment. These are the characteristics that make the hub of Stezzano a unique place of its kind"

comment Massimo and Luca Vitali of Vitali Spa.
