leboncoin is teaming up with Chronopost for deliveries to its 28 million users

Press release 12 October 2023

leboncoin, the leading French online retailer, is continuing to accelerate its transactional services by joining forces with Chronopost for 2- to 4-business day* deliveries to its users, in the Pickup network.

With over 111 million goods exchanged in 2022[1], and more than 67 million classified ads currently online, leboncoin has become the most visited French website, making second hand a first choice

From the biggest online flea market in France, today leboncoin has become an online retail leader. Teaming up with Chronopost, a major player in deliveries, was obviously the logical next step in our transformation, with the goal of making it easier to access the circular economy and having a beneficial impact on purchasing power and the environment,

said Amandine de Souza - Managing Director, leboncoin

Since 2020, Chronopost, the historic French leader in the express shipment of parcels weighing under 30 kg, has been developing a complementary, more economical range of services to meet the needs of the second-hand market: Shop2Shop by Chronopost.

With 100 branches, 12 hubs and over 17,000 pickup points, including 1,300 lockers everywhere in the country through our partner, Pickup, Chronopost provides effective service throughout France.

An effective partnership that anticipates year-end volumes

For each of the last five years, the volume of second-hand purchases has spiked in the third quarter, as the holiday season approaches. The French are turning to second-hand items more and more frequently for their gifts, for both environmental and price reasons.

With 20% of online sales passing through leboncoin, this partnership therefore meets a concrete need for transactions throughout France. This year, in addition to the idea of hand delivery, second-hand products can be delivered by Chronopost in time to be placed under the tree.

Shared values shaping the partnership

As a pioneer in second-hand sales, leboncoin gives users the chance to         increase their purchasing power and limit their carbon footprint by buying or selling second-hand goods.

For its part, Chronopost is also committed to the environmental and energy transition, which is a driving force in its development. The carrier pays special attention to the last mile. The leader in deliveries within Paris using 100% low-emission vehicles since 2019, Chronopost has implemented a winning strategy with the deployment of its low-emission vehicle fleet. By the end of 2022, 1,350 low-emission vehicles were in use in 67 municipalities, including electric vehicles, NGV and cargo bikes, accounting for 25% of all parcels.

“We are delighted to be signing this partnership agreement. Using our network and expertise to develop the circular economy makes a lot of sense. Working to develop more responsible alternatives throughout France is another step in Chronopost's commitment to reduce its environmental footprint,”

stated Benoît Frette, Chairman of Chronopost.
