Nannybag and Pickup join forces to become the French and European leader in luggage services for passengers

Press release 15 April 2022

Founded in 2016, Nannybag is a collaborative network of luggage lockers allowing travelers around the world to store their luggage before a check-in, after a check-out, or during transit between two transports, at partner businesses, restaurants and hotels. The acquisition of 49% of the company's capital by Pickup, a pickup network of La Poste Groupe, on February 16, marks a major turning point for the company, which will now be able to offer travelers the possibility of storing their luggage in a larger number of parcel shops around the world. This is a meaningful union for the two entities, which have complementary expertise and share a common vision of local services. Their shared ambition is to soon offer Nannybag luggage services in 3,000 Pickup points in France, then in Europe.

A winning partnership

After two years devoted to maintaining its luggage storage business and developing its luggage transport service in the face of the health crisis, the world leader in luggage storage, Nannybag, is entering its second quarter with a focus on expansion both domestically and internationally. By joining forces with Pickup, Nannybag is making clear its ambitions to increase the popularity of its brand and expand its network to offer its services on a larger scale. To do this, the start-up will be able to rely on the unrivalled network of Pickup, the leading pickup network in France with its 16,000 pickup points and 600 lockers. Pickup’s expertise is also exported internationally, with nearly 70,000 points in 31 countries around the world.

The partnership will therefore enable us to offer travellers a larger number of luggage lockers located in Pickup points, so that they can leave their luggage there for a few hours or several days. A total of 3,000 retail pickup points will offer Nannybag luggage services within a year.

Complementary expertise

Since its inception in 2016, Nannybag has been dedicated to facilitating the experience of passengers in complete safety and at a lower cost. The start-up makes it possible to:

  • Store luggage anywhere at any time;

  • Transfer luggage from point A to point B without constraints;

  • Send luggage and equipment anywhere in the world.

At the same time, Nannybag ensures that small businesses can effectively monetise their vacant space, while generating additional footfall in their stores.

These are key principles that Pickup has shared since its creation. As a business ally for more than 20 years of local shops, to which the company brings an additional complement to their nominal activity, and of customers, Pickup has always offered agile and innovative solutions in line with the evolution of society and consumers.

"We are very excited to be working with Pickup! This collaboration has given our business a new lease of life and is very aligned with our future ambitions. We will be expanding our team and are already working on developing solutions for transferring luggage from hotels to airports and sending suitcases around the world."

Matthieu Ballester, Chairman and Co-founder of Nannybag

"At Pickup, we are very proud to invest in Nannybag and to support its development. This partnership will allow Nannybag to capitalise on our network to make life easier for as many people as possible. It is also a way for Pickup to offer our relays a new complementary activity, helping them to develop their business. The customer will benefit from a range of services that meet their needs as closely as possible."
