To ensure seamless support for your activities during the upcoming major events of the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics Games, Geopost is actively taking part in discussions with the organising committees regarding the anticipated traffic restrictions.
With 15 million visitors expected, Geopost strives to maintain its usual quality of service, so that our clients won’t be impacted.
Paralympic Games: From the 28th of August to the 8th of September
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony will take place in Paris on July 26th. Impacts are expected during the setup phase on the docks starting from June, and then during the activation of the security perimeter starting from Thursday, July 18th.
The ceremony will take place along the Seine, from East to West, between the Austerlitz Bridge and the Iéna Bridge, concluding in front of the Trocadéro.
Traffic challenges are anticipated for the entire day, with the red zone related to event organisation becoming entirely inaccessible, starting from 1:00 PM. There’s a possibility that no deliveries will be feasible on that particular day.
Discover the specific access procedures through this video provided by the Paris Police Prefecture.
Between July and September 2024, prefectures will establish traffic restriction zones marked in blue, red and grey in ten urban areas, with Paris and its surrounding region being the primary hosts for the Olympic & Paralympics competitions. There will be three different areas , blue, red and grey.
Access for motor vehicles is regulated and subject to restrictions. Our drivers will be equipped with access permits to facilitate parcel collections and deliveries.
Situated in central Paris, these zones will remain restricted throughout the duration of the games. Unless specific exemptions are granted, motor vehicles will not be permitted. Consequently, our subsidiaries Chronopost and DPD France will utilise cargo bikes or pedestrian route for parcel delivery.
Only individuals possessing a ticket and vehicles accredited by Paris 2024, and subject to verification of credentials, will be granted access to these perimeters.
